As explained on the MT-STAT For Nurses page, your prior education has already taught you more terminology, anatomy, and pharmacology than any medical transcription course can provide. It is unnecessary to revisit combining forms, body cavities, and routes of administration.

The Training Module focuses on building transcription skills, and includes an online refresher in English grammar and punctuation from our online student area, proper medical record formatting and style, and familiarity with digital transcription.

    It includes:

      AUTHENTIC PHYSICIAN DICTATION

Many medical transcription courses offer x number of hours of dictation. We take a different approach, because the goal is not to transcribe 8 hours of dictation. The real goal is to be able to transcribe 300 lines per hour with 98% accuracy.

Much of the dictation included in medical transcription courses is 10, even 20 years old. As you know, new techniques, new equipment, and new drugs have developed over the past decade. It's important to practice with current dictation.

Our dictation is donated by the employers we work with, so it's always fresh and is, for all practical purposes, unlimited. In addition, it's representative of the very dictation you will be transcribing when you begin working for one of our registered employers. You won't have any nasty surprises on your first day as an MT, because you will have been transcribing actual dictation from the same services that will hire you.

Each dictation includes a transcript key, so you can check your work immediately and correct any errors in transcription, formatting, or style.

The dictation is organized to begin with simple reports, so you can become familiar with the equipment and formatting, while building speed and a smooth transcription style.

At strategic points in the dictation practice, you will be given a timed test so we can evaluate your progress and help you with tips to correct any problem areas. Your goal will be to reach 300 lines per hour with 98% accuracy before you take the final exam that establishes your speed and accuracy for employment purposes.

NOTE- MT-STAT Has the right to substitute a similar medical transcription book if any of the below are out of stock or print. (some may ship separate)

      21st CENTURY GRAMMAR HANDBOOK

Alphabetical entries from "A, an" to "Zero" explain the most common grammar mistakes and how to correct them. Spelling, punctuation, parts of speech, confusing words -- they're all here, along with the most important rules of correct sentence structure. There is also a quiz that's designed to test your knowledge and point out areas in which you need to improve. A keyword index makes it easy to access the exact entry you need.

THE MEDICAL TRANSCRIPTION TRANSLATOR REFERENCE GUIDE:-

This book covers brief references to the medical terminology and shows you how to break it down. This is a reference guide, not a textbook. It is a must for all MTs to have on hand.

We offer 2 different type courses. One of them just has a review of terminology for those that feel their terminology knowledge is up to par. Our 1st course has the more extensive terminology textbook included in it. The more extensive course will also include our staff reviewing your terminology quiz test results and guiding you through any areas you may need to concentrate on more. Course #1 also comes with the digital transcriber foot pedal.

Only you know where your terminology knowledge stands from being in the medical field as a nurse. Therefore; you will need to decide if you want a review of terminology with your course or a more extensive learning textbook. After you decide then you can choose the course plan that you want from our order page.

THE MEDICAL TRANSCRIPTION SHORT COURSE: TERMINOLOGY - Course # 2

This book covers brief reviews of medical terminology. In book quiz on each chapter as well as a CD that is included to do self tests on your computer for reviewing your medical terminology knowledge. This book / course choice is for nurses that feel they have enough medical terminology knowledge to move forward into the other areas of our Medical Transcription Course and only need a short review of the terminology section. If you feel this is you, then choose the course #2 Short Course. Everything else listed above comes with your course; the only difference is the terminology textbook and assistance you do or don't get with the chapter tests for terminology.

THE MEDICAL TRANSCRIPTION TEXTBOOK: A More Extensive Course Book! - Course # 1

This textbook covers your medical terminology more extensive. It will show you the way to break down the suffix and prefix parts of the terms to better understand how to learn the meanings of each medical term. This is a large textbook that comes with a CD that has chapter tests / quiz sections per chapter that you will take on your computer and turn into us. Our staff will review each chapter test result and review any areas that we may feel you need to work on more through out your terminology studies. This textbook is for those that feel they need even more terminology studies then just reviewing them. If you feel this is for you then choose course #1. You will get everything else that comes in both course plans the only difference is this textbook and the terminology assistance that you will get with this course choice.
